QUICK Economical Butter Cake

    This one egg cake won't break the bank.  It is a small one layer, vanilla cake.

   1/4  cup butter
   2/3  cup sugar
      1  egg, well beaten
   1/2  cup milk
1 1/2  cup cake flour
      2  tsp baking powder
   1/2  tsp vanilla

   Cream the butter;  add gradually the sugar, beating hard, then the eggs.  Sift together the flour and baking powder;  add alternating with the milk, a little at a time.  Add vanilla.

   Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

   Ice as desired.
