Old Fashioned Brown Sugar Icing
| Servings: 12 Servings | Prep. Time: N/A |
The dark brown sugar gives this icing a really rich flavor. It is best spread over a warm cake. Doesn't that sound good? Warm cake. Yum
Ingredients
1 stick butter
1 cup, packed, dark brown sugar
1/3 cup half and half
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 cups confectioneer's sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Directions
Melt the butter in a heavy saucepan. Add the brown sugar.
Bring to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly.
Remove from the heat.
Add the half and half and mix well.
Return to the heat and bring to a boil.
Remove from the heat and cool slightly. Stir in vanilla.
Beat in the confectioners' sugar gradually until of a spreading consistancy.
Stir in the pecans.
Spread over a warm cake.
NOTE* This icing "cooks" over low heat. Increasing the temperature to speed cooking time, may cause the icing to be inconsistant with recipe.
